TORIES INSULT JOBLESS PEOPLE AGAIN

The government is determined to cap one per cent on welfare benefit rises for over the next six years.  In their calculation it would save £11billion for the taxpayers. It was revealed Friday, 21 December 2012.

It will be one of their main issues for the next general election and challenging Labour in their manifesto.

The end affect would be millions of jobless people, part-time and low income workers and families on tax credits would lose a great deal of money.

Now comes the insult to jobless people and low-income who in spite of already under great pressure trying to cope. The Tory chiefs who have no idea what the real life is like because born into wealthy families and of their fat income from Parliament and any other various earnings had the nerve to state that many middle-income voters are fed up with work-shy scroungers ripping off the welfare system. How dare they after they increased the unemployment and their salaries from £65,000 to £72,000?  Now they demand a £20,000 per year for expenses and not to be accounted for. This £20,000 alone would be a top salary for ordinary people.

How dare they point the fingers at jobless people who send application after application for a job. There is no doubt there are scroungers but they are a small minority but there are also in top earners, even more so. What about the tax avoiders who cost the country billions? They always seem to overlook that the Tories created 2.5million unemployment and rising while Labour had 1.5million in the worst crush happened for a long time.

According to their calculation it saves £700 for every working household and the cap was already extended till 2015.

This move already infuriated Labour but also caused further tension with the Coalition. The LibDem already blocked the planned freeze of the benefits.

This one per cent cap was already in Chancellors George Osborne’s budget and will come into effect next April, 2013. To be enforced till the end of 2015-16 financial year.

This proposal will mean nothing but austerity but so far all their cuts the country had a double dip recession and most properly will have another one at the end of December. In September heralded a 0.5 per cent increase because of the Olympics, Paralympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration. They did not even pay the taxes on the Olympics to ease the taxpayers’ burden or the deficit.

In 2013 the Parliament decided to introduce a bill to make the cap by law. Labour is already drawing their sword and opposes such a move. As a defence the Tories pointed out that Labour would increase the debts with their spending plans forgetting or conveniently ignoring that while the Tories or Coalition are in power that debts are steadily rising by £500billion in spite of their enforced austerity.

UK CHANCELLOR BORROWING RISES - 8 Sept., 2014

UPDATE:  8 September,2014 --  The debt rose from £1trillion in 2010 to £1,5trillion in 2013 but the Tory-led Government still blaming Labour. Yes, Labour borrowed but do not forget they had to bail out the banks which are nothing but a shamble ever since the famous Margaret Thatcher de-regulated the banking system. Before the British banks has a standard and were highly respected in the world. As for the austerity it costs the country £240billion according to the financial experts.

A RECORD NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF

While Chancellor Osborne keeps cutting and preaching austerity the unemployment rises and so does his borrowing.  It is the same old story which he should know that when you cut back on jobs people get unemployed and can’t spend any or no money.  Goods won’t get sold, apart from the very necessary and manufacturers get less order. They lay off people which add to unemployment and so the vicious circle continuous.

The government spent £17.5billions which is an increase of £1.2billion compared from the year before although experts predicted a fall of borrowing.

There was a revision of the estimated figure of growth between July and September, 2013 from 1 per cent to 0.9 per cent. This sudden growth was only due to the Olympics, Paralympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration. Even then in spite of being in great debts the government did not request the tax from the profits of the Olympics. No the government and Chancellor turned on the poorest of already struggling families and introduced the spare bedroom tax.

They cut the disability benefits. Child care, pensioners to recuperate their losses.  Yet they found money to give themselves a £25,000 rise.  Not tackling the tax avoiders and yet they had the nerve to state that middle-class working people are fed up of financing scroungers like unemployed and claimants of benefits.

That is the second time it happened.

This arrogance and out of touch is incredible coming from a government who should be all for their people. They forgot that it is the ‘scroungers’ who voted them in.  Now Chancellor Osborne plans to cap the benefits till 2015/6 as if the people are not already pushed to the limit. The very fact that there are 280 food banks across the country tells you the hardship.  Nobody would go there if they were not desperate.  Some walk for miles by wind and weather because they have not got the pass fare. Does all that not count any more to get the message through that people are already past their limit?

HIGH ENERGY BILLS KILL OLD PEOPLE -- Update 15 August, 2020

DO ANY OF THE ELITE
LIVE LIKE THAT?
Update 15 August, 2020
Despite of all the protests and the evidence that 130,000 people died of starvation and/or hyperthermia, CEOs and shareholders earning £10mls
£100mls, tariffs were again increased before the winter 2019.

Update 19 May, 2017 --
Mme May puts now the final nail in their coffin. She included in her election manifesto to cut Winter Fuel Payments which were up to £300 each winter, introduced by Labour. It includes mainly the rich which is agreeable but for the poorer pensioners she introduces a means-test and anyone can guess how it will end. The tenths of thousands of pensioners already died of hyperthermia despite Winter Fuel pay but energy tariffs multiplied they still had to keep their heating down. Apparently; it does not mean anything to Mme May and her Tory Party.

UPDATE: 8 Jan., 2016 - Every winter newspapers announce a severe spell of frost and warn the elderly to wrap-up warm instead going for Mr Cameron and the energy supplier to reduce the tariffs.  At least for the elderly so they are not scared to use heating. No matter how warm you wrap-up the cold gets through eventually.

UPDATE: 3 June,2015 -- During the winter 2014/15 the Guardian reported that 40,000 people died of hypothermia. It was the highest number for 15 years. Yet, the Government is still planning to cut £12billion off Welfare.

UPDATE:  2 February 2015 -- The Daily Express reported that during the winter 2013/14 which was  a mild winter 20,000 old people died of hypothermia.  How can this government and the big six energy provider live with themselves knowing their death is due to them?

UPDATE: 15 Sept., 2014 -- So far we have not heard anything of the six major energy suppliers for another rise but it does not mean it will not come. The watchdog Ofgem has the power to fine them up  to 10 per cent which was exactly the amount the energy giants increased the bills. Why were they not using their power? It would have cut down the energy giants and gave them something to think about. As much as the public were revolting and complaining because they are up to their neck in hardship; PM David Cameron did nothing. Well, let's see what happen this winter now.

UPDATE:  19 August 2013  --  Winter is coming and the energy suppliers already announcing another rise. One suggested up to 10 per cent which was also the last rise in tariffs. People were already more than struggling before the last rise and the Government promised but did not intervene. After the last rise the poor had to balance between buying food and paying the bills. It is impossible to imagine what will happen if this rise goes through?

UPDATE:  27 February 2013 -- It had already been announced that there will be another rise in energy bills because they have to buy so much dearer from other countries. When they want to raise the tariffs they always find a good reason.

As long as the government can blame somebody or something they feel righteous. This time it is the green energy policy which they blame increases the energy bills. No wait a minute shouldn’t green energy policies bring the bills down? The ugly wind turbines are not half as effective as it was promised. So why still invest in them. The solar panels are far cheaper to install and won’t ruin the landscape. The government wouldn’t blame or point at the high profit the energy giants making.

On Thursday the clever government released the statistics while everybody concentrated on the Leveson’s report. They certainly know how to fox us. In spite of the fact the people die more in the winter of cold, flu and other illnesses the statistic showed that in the last winter there were 24,000 more death because of cold.  Most of the deaths -19,500 – were over 75.

Since 1950s the number of dead were gradually reduced because of better medical care and heating. In the last winter it is increased again. It accounts for colder winter and higher energy cost which the elderly just can’t effort it.

According to Ofgem green subsidies and levies added four per cent to gas prices and 10 per cent to electricity. Subsidising the renewable energy such as wind turbines adds £21 a year. Subsidising insulation schemes adds £52. It was wrong from the government in the first place just to decide and add this cost on without asking the public. Apparently there supposed to be a democracy. Nobody wants the wind turbines and regarding the insulation so many people asking but all they get is an excuse for not to do it. Yet we have to pay £52 whether we get it or not. Where does that money go since the majority of the work is not carried out?

Another cost is added on by the EU’s emission trading scheme. It forces power companies to buy permits to burn fossil fuels.

When confronting the government with all these unjust addition their reply is pensioners receive a winter fuel payment. This is not the answer to the problem giving back in winter fuel payments which were charged already on the energy bills. Therefore, it is not a great help to pensioners.

America put up huge solar panels which are far more effective and productive than wind farms. The same could put to encourage the public to install solar panels on top of their houses.

Whatever they decide it is high time they do something about these high energy prices. Whether they make the energy giants to cut their profits or go ahead with exploring the shale gas but a decision has to be made.  The subsidies making the landowners and the wind farm owners rich and again everybody is paying for it, even pensioners.

It seems this government finds all sorts of ways for their friends to fill their pocket while we, like sitting ducks, have to pay for it.

IT IS HIGH TIME THAT THE GOVERNMENT TREATS PENSIONERS WITH RESPECT NOT LIKE DEAD WOOD HOPING IT PERISH SOON. THESE PEOPLE GAVE EVERYTHING IN THE LAST WAR. THAT SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN AND THEY DESERVE EVERY COMFORT IN THEIR OLD AGE.

70 YEARS OF WELFARE STATE TORIES DESTROY IT

SIR WILLIAM BEVERIDGE
It was on 1 December 1942 Sir William Beveridge dreams came true and the Welfare State was born. It protects the people from the cradle to the grave.

It was Labour Party's greatest gift to the Nation

Beveridge made sure that out of the horror of the World War 2 a welfare state was created and to change the squalor, ignorance, want, idleness and disease once and for all. During his stay in the Oxford University he wrote an autobiography and mentioned the question why Britain with great wealth has still so much poverty? He sat about to change it.

In 1900 he witnesses at first hand the misery of poverty in the East End of London as a voluteer. He realised that with charities, medical boards and prison the problem could not be solved.  He remembered a dreadful place in Shadwell named Medland Hall. It was a free shelter and down and outs were queuing up for hours to get a place. It taught him that hand-outs and drop-in shelters are not the real answer to the problem.

From 1900 he started his campaign for jobs and growth pointing out that these are the fundamental needs for a just society.  He further demanded a minimum wage, free school meals and old age pensions. Furthermore, labour exchanges for the unemployed and insurance benefits if they can’t work.

At a time of total inequality these were a lot of great radical ideas. However, after 30 years of campaigning and fighting for it Sir William Beveridge manages to get it established.

The Second World War gave him the chance. Beveridge was in charge of a most unimportant inquiry into the co-ordination of social services.  He turned it into a full blown fight for social justice.

His report Social Insurance and Allied Services became a best seller for 100,000 copies in the first month. The British people started to fight for it and demanded no return to the 30s.  The report showed a determination to destroy the real problems by demanded a comprehensive welfare system such as National Health Services, child allowances and full employment.

The Beveridge revolution certainly brought about welfare for all. It was brought about by contribution of taxpayers to National Insurance. A democratic way and brilliant common sense to benefit everyone. It was also a way of acknowledging the great sacrifices people showed and gave during the war.

He also established, with his demands, that the poor were treated with much more respect.

During the Tory-led coalition the report was pushed into the back ground and they hope it will be lost and forgotten.  A group of Labour MPs fought to keep it alive and when Labour won the election in 1945 the Labour Prime Minister Clement Attlee made sure the report was implemented.

The Family Allowance Act gave the child benefit; the National Insurance Act covered unemployment benefit and pensions.  In 1948 the people of Britain received the greatest gift of them all – the National Health Service.

Beveridge was determined to establish a welfare state for all and not hand outs. He wanted the people to be covered when times were hard and individual freedom with responsibilities.

All these sweeping changes proved full production and respectable living standard.

All Beveridge’s vision and proven perfect ideas are now under attack and again from the Tories. Already there are food banks establishing by the hundreds across Britain which proves the people are not being able to cope any more even when they are in employment.

In the North of England women walking for miles to get to the food banks, even in pouring rain, because they can’t afford the bus fare. The Prime Minister and his government should be aware of it and yet they are still cutting benefits.

The Tories and their coalition are determined to dismantle the welfare state with withdrawal of child benefits, attacks on the NHS in the so-called “reform” and cutting the Disability benefit which is the worse.  The Disabled people are supposed to be going back to work but there is no work. The Tories even closing the factories for the disable people and outside there are 2.5million unemployed of all ages who can’t get a job.  Therefore there is no employment for r disabled people.

WHAT DO THEY THINK PEOPLE LIVE ON? OR DON’T THEY THINK ABOUT IT?  OR DOES IT NOT MATTER TO THEM?

BRITAIN STOP FOREIGN AID -- updated 7 April 2014

INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
SECRETARY JUSTINE GREENING

UPDATE:  7 April 2014 --  Instead of the promised decrease in Foreign Aid  by Justine Greening it has risen from £8.8billion to £11.8billion.  WELL DONE.  While there are 1,000 food banks in Britain which the Tories should be ashamed of and the people are starving.  They are lucky that  there was the mildest winter on record otherwise there would be tens of thousands death because nobody can afford those gas and electricity prices.  The Government did nothing to stop the energy giants to put up their prices every winter by 10 percent.  He and the rest of the Tory Party must heaving big numbers of shares in it.

UPDATE:   14 August 2013 -- In Somalia A £500,000 worth of food storage was destroyed. It was paid for by Foreign Aid.  Everybody knows that Somalia is a lawless country and the full Foreign Aid must go straight to equip their lawless army. Why spent money when families in the UK are in great poverty and will be even worse off with all the energy -, food -, petrol - and  railways - prices increase.

£1billion  to Nigeria which is a oil rich country with a rocket and space programme while UK's disability benefit, child care benefit and pension were cut.

Again the promise given by Ms Greening to cut Foreign aid was not fulfilled.

==================================================

PLEASE BE SO KIND AND CLICK ON ADVERTS.  THANK YOU.
==================================================

UPDATE:  27 February 2013 -- India was making fun of the previous £250,000 Foreign Aid contribution calling it 'chicken feed'. Developed a nuclear rocket and nuclear weapons and now Prime Minister David Cameron promised £1billion for some grandiose plan of building cities between Bombay and Bangalore which most properly will never be build. Furthermore, it is not for housing the poor. Is there any credit to be given to him?

UPDATE: 24 January 2013 -- Hopefully they have the sense to stop Foreign Aid to Libya, Mali and Algiers after those terrible murders.

It is more than overdue to stop Foreign Aid. Even the UN advising to stop aid to some countries and many other countries are stopping it. So why is Britain so determined to carry on?

India has always been rich but their corruption and greed is keeping the money to go to the needy. Although it is decided by International Development Secretary Justine Greening to stop Foreign Aid to India but not before 2015.  It looks a double sided decision. The aid should be stopped now since India can afford nuclear rockets which even Britain can’t. Then there is the question about year 2015? Since the general election is due in 2015 would it not be possible and it most properly is that the decision will be reversed. This decision looks like more to pacify the public than being effective.  This country is in dire need of money now and the Foreign aid to India would help in many areas.

Then there is Rwanda and at least Ms Greening had the sense to stop it. There are many other countries which use the money either for their own luxurious lifestyle and supply their military to fight civil wars to keep the present government in power. Nothing whatsoever goes to the people who it is aimed for.  There is even Foreign Aid given to oil rich countries.

This Foreign Aid had been given since the early sixty. According to this if it would have been  passed on there should be any poor people any more or very few. It is evidently that the money was never passed on. Yet, there is no government who has the courage to say enough is enough. Even the UN which started it begins to see the light and advice governments not to send aid to certain countries.

WHY IS BRITAIN STILL DOING IT IN SPITE OF ALL THE EVIDENCE AND THE ECONOMIC HARDSHIP IN THIS COUNTRY?

HEALTH TOURISTS ARE NOT CHECKED OUT -- WHY?

According to reports the National Health Service is losing £12million a year which is far too much out of a very tight budget. This amount of money is spent on so called Health Tourists. They are people from overseas like Africa and Asia and demand to be treated by the hospitals. They never lived in the UK and have contributed to the NHS by paying National Insurance. When they are treated they will fly back and that is the end of the story as far as they are concerned.

Now by Law the hospitals should check and ask for bills, pay slips or bank statements to prove they are living in this country for at least a year.

The TV programme Panorama run a six months undercover investigation and they discovered that hospitals do not ask for these documents. The Health Minister Anna Soubry appeared on the programme and admitted that the system is flawed.

During a Freedom of Information request to 133 hospitals in England and Wales 45 admitted they do not do this check and 38 never replied.

During further investigation the BBC Panorama also discovered a black market whereby doctors selling hospital referrals for up to £800 which allows patients free care.

Furthermore, the original figure has increased in the meantime by 450 per cent and it is now a staggering £40million of unpaid bills.

According to the law only casualty and emergency maternity care is free to people who are not residence in the UK.

With all due respect and sympathy but this has to be stopped.  £40million to the NHS which budget had been drastically cut down is a tremendous loss and not fair to the people of Britain who pay their National Insurance.

This is exactly the point where the government and trusts which run the hospitals should step in.

The other point is wastage by paying outside consultants paying millions advising which doctor and nurse will be laid off.  Surely the trust or committee which runs the hospital would have been just as capable or even more so to make a decision. They know the staff far better than outsiders.

WHY IS THIS GOVERNMENT ALWAYS SPENDING MONEY IN THE WRONG PLACE WHEN IT IS ALWAYS DEMANDING AUSTERITY?
